Maria was born and raised in Mexico. She graduated from an American college in Chihuahua, Mexico as an Executive Bilingual Secretary with a minor in private accounting. For the last 39 years, Maria has lived in the United States. She lived in California for 13 years before moving to Nebraska where she has been for the last 26 years. She has taken many courses and training including palliative care, Diabetes Education Empowerment Program (DEEP), Mental Health First Aid USA, QPR Suicide Prevention Gatekeeper Instructor Certification Program, medical interpreting, and community health worker.
Maria can read and write in both Spanish and English. Maria and her husband raised their three children, Sandra, Jamie, and Zulema in Lexington. They love the community and the diverse population. Education is very important to their family, Maria’s three children received wonderful education in Lexington and now Maria’s grandchild Emilio is attending Early Learning Academy in Lexington. In her free time, Maria likes learning about different programs and resources to help our community, reading and spending time with her grandchildren.

María nació y creció en México. Ella graduó de un Colegio Americano en Chihuahua, México, como Secretaria Ejecutiva Bilingüe y contador privado. Por los últimos 39 años ella ha vivido en los Estados Unidos. 26 años en Nebraska y 13 en California. Ella ha tomado varios entrenamientos como Cuidado Paliativo, Programa de Empoderamiento de Educación sobre la Diabetes, Primeros Auxilios de Salud Mental, QPR Certificada como Instructora del Programa de Prevención de Suicidio, Cursos de Interprete Médico, y el Curso de Promotora.
María puede escribir y leer en español e inglés. María y su esposo han criado a sus 3 hijos, Sandra, Jaime y Zulema en Lexington. Ellos aman a la comunidad y su diversa población. Educación es muy importante en su familia. Sus 3 hijos de María recibieron una educación maravillosa en Lexington, ahora su nieto Emilio está asistiendo a la Academia de Aprendizaje Temprano en Lexington. En su tiempo libre a María le gusta aprender acercas de los diferentes programas y recursos que puedan ayudar a la comunidad, leer y pasar tiempo con sus nietos.
