Dedicated to Quality Care Since 1976
Founded in 1976 as Tri-County Hospital, Lexington Regional Health Center has transformed from a 40-bed facility to a 25-bed critical access hospital, now a political subdivision overseen by a five-member elected board. Today, Lexington Regional provides comprehensive inpatient, outpatient, surgical, emergency, and obstetric services, continually adapting to meet the needs of the community.
Expanding Access and Enhancing Facilities
Lexington Regional expanded with the opening of an Urgent Care Clinic in 2011 for affordable, after-hours care. By 2013, the hospital implemented 24/7 emergency room coverage. In 2014, Lexington completed major upgrades, including a new Outpatient Services Center with advanced operating rooms, private patient rooms, and renovated visitor areas—adding 31,000 square feet and enhancing existing spaces to improve patient care without increasing taxes or fees.

Commitment to Community Health
To ensure accessible primary care, Lexington Regional opened Family Medicine Specialists in 2014 and expanded to Elwood with a Rural Health Clinic in 2016, followed by an orthopedic and sports medicine program. In 2018, the Bertrand clinic opened, along with a new interventional pain management service. These expansions reflect the center’s commitment to convenient, high-quality care for rural communities.
A Positive Economic and Social Impact
Lexington Regional’s economic contributions to the community reached over $55 million in 2017, benefiting local businesses and reinforcing the area’s economic health. Recognized nationally as a “Best Place to Work” in 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2023 the hospital prioritizes both patient satisfaction and employee well-being. Looking forward, Lexington Regional remains dedicated to enhancing services and technology to offer superior care close to home.
